The position and job responsibilities
Do you want to make a real difference for people in vulnerable life situations? We are now looking for an engaged social worker to join our team for a two-year project employment starting on April 1, focusing on violence in close relationships.
As a social worker, you will be responsible for investigating and assessing the need for protection, support, and interventions for individuals who are subjected to violence in close relationships. You will also work to offer support to perpetrators of violence. The work is done in close collaboration with internal functions and external actors such as the police, healthcare, and non-profit organizations. You will meet people in both acute and ongoing cases. Your mission is to create conditions for a safer and more independent life together with the individual. This may involve arranging sheltered housing, providing practical guidance, or offering psychosocial support and motivation in a change process.
Your main job responsibilities:
- receive and handle incoming cases
- investigate and assess the need for protection and support according to the Social Services Act
- follow up on granted interventions
- assess the need for financial assistance during the investigation period
- document and make decisions according to applicable legislation
- collaborate with relevant actors to create safe and sustainable solutions
- contribute to the development of working methods in the area of violence in close relationships.
We are inspired by the Icelandic model, which focuses on early and coordinated interventions. Based on this, Botkyrka Municipality has introduced Familjefrid - a working method where we quickly support families affected by acute violence situations together with the police starting February 1, 2026.
When the police respond to a home with a family, social services are contacted directly, and we are on-site within 30 minutes. There, we offer protection and support to both children, adults, and even perpetrators of violence. Research shows that the willingness to receive help is greatest immediately after an acute event, making Familjefrid an important and meaningful part of our mission.
Since many cases come in during evenings and weekends, we work in a rotating four-person team with extended working hours until 11:00 PM on weekday evenings. You will work alongside a colleague from the Child and Youth Reception to meet families precisely when the need is greatest.
We offer you
With us, you will have a meaningful role in a team with high competence, great commitment, and a desire to develop together. The work is characterized by collaboration, reflection, and active knowledge exchange - both within the unit and with other professions. You will have daily support from our lead social worker, who leads the operational work, supports your development, and drives the reception's work forward. The role creates security and structure in everyday life. We have an open and trusting culture where you can influence. Collegial support, a good atmosphere, and a balance between work and recovery are important to us.
The Social Administration in Botkyrka is characterized by courage, responsibility, openness, and energy. During this year's Inspiration Day, our collaboration within the Child Reception and Violence in Close Relationships was highlighted - a testament to our joint development work. With us, you will become part of an organization that uplifts its employees and dares to think outside the box.
You who apply to us
You have a degree in social work or another equivalent academic degree with at least 180 higher education credits. You have previous experience in public authority operations and have conducted investigations within social services.
Meritorious:
- Experience working in the area of violence in close relationships.
- Previous work experience with the Icelandic model.
- Previous experience working with the Signs Of Safety method.
- Experience with the motivational interviewing method.
As a social worker with us, you need to be confident in your professional role and have a professional demeanor even in demanding situations. You have an analytical ability that allows you to see the whole picture, make well-founded assessments, and reflect on both the individual's needs and society's opportunities for support.
You work in a structured manner and have the ability to plan, prioritize, and document in a way that creates both quality and legal security. At the same time, you are collaborative and see the value in working together - you share your knowledge, are attentive in dialogue with others, and contribute to a shared sense of responsibility in the team.
The position is a two-year project employment starting on April 1, with good opportunities for extension. Botkyrka Municipality has applied for funding from the County Administrative Board, and we are awaiting a decision on March 20. The recruitment process is ongoing in the meantime.
For positions in the Social Administration in Botkyrka Municipality, you as a prospective employee will undergo a background check.
